About The Garden Grounds
We grow food for you, our family and our community the way we grow it for ourselves. Our market garden started as a plain old backyard garden. As we grew more, and learned more, we decided it would be fun to share our hobby with our community. So, we joined the Fayette County West Virginia Farmers Market and haven’t looked back since!
How We Grow
We grow food for you, our family and our community the we grow if for ourselves. That means if we wouldn’t eat it we don’t bring it to the market
Organic Practices
Organic certifications are expensive for a small operation, and often not even possible in such a small growing space. BUT organic practices are free and we use them. We use OMRI certified amenities and don’t apply pesticides, fungicides or synthetic fertilizers to our crops. This may show as imperfections or even bite marks from insects on our crops, but it also shows in their incredible flavor!
Quality Over Profit
A sustainable business has to be profitable. But, that doesn’t mean that the quality of our produce and flowers has to suffer to make a buck. We work hard to grow and sell the tastiest veggies and most beautiful flowers we can while going to extra mile to stay competitive with grocery store prices so more people can afford to enjoy homegrown produce.
Learning And Sharing Knowledge
Gardening and farming is a lifelong learning endeavor that changes daily, especially when it comes to sustainable practices. We’re learning this as we and that’s lead to great wins, and epic failures. It’s all a part of the journey, though, and it’s a journey we’re willing to share because we believe in food sovereignty for everyone.
